A Booklet for The London Clinic where John and Yoko received Primal Therapy -
the cover extensively doodled by John Lennon, 1970An information booklet for the private London Clinic, 20 Devonshire Place, London, W1, the cover doodled in black pen by John Lennon with a man in profile (perhaps a Doctor) on the top right hand corner, one of John's typical cartoon-like figures below, beside what may be a woman just having had surgery (what could be stitches appear on her stomach) and a black sheep on the left hand side. The Lennon's attended a four week residential course with Psychologist Dr. Arthur Janov in March / April of 1970 as their home Tittenhurst was being renovated at the time. The pair issued a hoax press release announcing they had entered the clinic for a dual sex-change operation. The vendor worked as an Agency Nurse full time on night duty at the London Clinic during 1969 and 1970. She remembers that in March 1970 Yoko Ono was a patient at the clinic and John stayed at the hospital with her. When the Lennon's vacated their room the vendor found the doodled booklet and as a huge Beatles fan kept it as a memento until now.The lot is accompanied by a letter from the vendor detailing it's history and also includes a copy of a charming letter to her parents where she describes John and Yoko's stay at the hospital and mentions the booklet and that his drawings were in the news at the time as his 'Bag One' exhibition had just been banned as pornographic.
